Bio
Susanna is an early career researcher with a background in journalism and public relations. She completed her doctoral candidature under the supervision of Prof Christian Engwerda at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in Brisbane, Australia. Susanna’s candidature culminated in the characterization of NKG7—a molecule involved in the regulation of cytotoxicity and inflammatory responses—on natural killer (NK) and T cells. She is currently supported by an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship and is investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying cytotoxicity and inflammation within the tumour microenvironment using techniques such as flow cytometry, ultra-high plex immunohistochemistry (CODEX), patient-derived organoids, and in vitro primary immune cell cultures.
